According to The British Lancet medical journal, we can expect human health risks to rise along with the progression of global warming.
Changes in sea level, rainfall, humidity and winds will increase death rates due to heat waves, infectious diseases, allergies, cholera, and starvation due to failing crops.
Scientists further indicated that global warming may have already induced malnutrition in some areas due to low crop yield, and nutritional and physical problems in other areas due to rising sea levels.
The scientists seek a greater recognition of the relationship between global warming and global health among researchers.
“Recognition of widespread health risks should widen these debates beyond the already important considerations of economic disruption”, they said.
