Europe raises the stakes
Following substantial pledges from the USA and China in the previous two days, on the 26th November the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for ambitious EU climate action: a target of at least 30% CO2 reduction (and recognition of the need for 40%), funding to developing countries of 30 billion euros per year by 2020, EU support for a halt to deforestation, and a binding agreement at Copenhagen.
